Alabama Underwater homeowners can now get help with refinancing their mortgage by utilizing the new Homeowners Affordable Refinance Program (HARP). This mortgage refinance program, also known as the ‘Obama Refinance Program’ in some circles allows mortgage holders whose loans are backed by Fannie Mae or Freddie mac the ability to Refinance to a lower rate, shorter term or both with very minimal qualifications or restrictions.
If you still own your home and have made it through the housing recession so far, then now is the time to take advantage of this program before it expires. Despite being widely publicized, many mortgage holders still don’t know about HARP.
One of the first things you need to do is to find out if your home mortgage is eligible for a HARP 2.0 Refinance. Secondly, you should call a HARP mortgage lender OTHER than your existing loan servicer to
get a mortgage rate quote and find out what restrictions they may have in place to refinance your mortgage loan.
Three big HARP Refinance program benefits:
1. There is NO minimum Loan to Value (LTV) you must meet. In other words you can owe more on your mortgage than you home is worth and still take advantage of the HARP loan program.
2. The Underwriting restrictions have been greatly reduced allowing for little or no verification of income, assets, or other typical mortgage loan hurdles.
3. Because the underwriting is less, the fees and costs associated with the program are lessened as well. This is to the home owners benefit.
Alabama homeowners need to take advantage of the program by contacting us now before the HARP Loan Program expires at the end of 2013.
